One of the most useful attachments for a rifle is a bipod, especially for bolt actions. A bipod is simply a two legged stand that sits at the end of your rifle offering a more stable shooting position in order to boost shot to shot consistency by eliminating the variable of you supporting the weight of the rifle. Bipods are available in different designs, and various lengths. Though they all do the same job, you want to be sure that you're comfortable deploying the bipod i.e. not trying to fiddle with complicated catches, and that it doesn't sit sky-high off of the ground. Similarly you want enough length for those times where you're not prone!
Manufactured by Swiss Arms, this foldable bipod is one solid piece of kit. Constructed out of high quality aluminium, and finished in a matte-black paint it looks the part, and works exactly as you would expect. The bipod is locked in place in either folded or unfolded position; to move the bipod you push down on a catch on each leg of the bipod, then fold in the desired direction. The extendable legs are spring loaded; just push the button on the bottom of each leg and they spring out for fast access.
Attaching this bipod to your rifle is a breeze - as standard it is an RIS/RAS bipod, so will bolt straight on to any 20mm picatinny rail, but it also includes an adapter for a swivel stud. To install on a rifle with a swivel stud all you have to do is attach the bipod to the RIS/RAS section of the adapter, slot the swivel section onto the RIS/RAS adapter, and tighten it down - that's it!
